FAQs

  • We routinely travel the greater Charlotte area including Mooresville, Kannapolis, Concord, Albemarle, Monroe, Rock Hill, and Gastonia.  We will travel throughout North and South Carolina with the expectation that this will require additional travel fees.

  • Prior to the site visit a budget will be provided based on travel time, expected duration of the site visit and anticipated report preparation time.  The time assumed for the site visit and report preparation will be based on the information provided to us prior to the visit.  The minimum fee for a site visit and written report is $700.  If no written report is required, a discount for the anticipated report preparation time will be given.

    • The report will include descriptions of the reason for the inspection, the conditions encountered at the site and our conclusions based on the information gathered.  If repairs are required, the report will include a description of those repairs, including work to be performed (beam sizes, joist sizes and spacing, foundation additions/repairs) and a written description of the locations of those repairs and additions. Drawings are not included in the standard report but can be provided after an additional budget is approved.  The repair description is typically suitable for a contractor to provide a budget and to complete the required work.

  • The typical turnaround time for a written report is 5 business days after the site visit. A shortened time frame can be accommodated under specific circumstances.  The report will not be delivered until full payment has been received.

  • We will need access to all areas that will be inspected including the interior of the structure, attics, crawl spaces, and basements.  Large amounts of personal items in these areas may prohibit access the therefore limit the information gained from the inspection

  • Yes, provided the costs of the travel and inspection time are paid prior to or during the inspection.  We can discuss site observations and general conclusions; however, some situations may require additional research or calculations before final conclusions can be reached.

  • We can provide full structural drawings for your renovation and addition projects.  We will perform a site visit to discuss your vision for the project.  We will also gather information on the layout and condition of the existing structure so that we can ensure the final product is safe and meets your expectations.

  • The final set of structural design documents will include plans, elevations, sections, details and notes necessary for the structure of the project.  We will not include architectural details, including but not limited to waterproofing, flashing, insulation requirements, finishes, and ADA requirements.  Our drawings will not include engineering for mechanical, electrical or plumbing systems; however, the locations of plumbing fixtures can be shown on the floor plans.
